Since 1918, Ixonia Bank has grown alongside the people, businesses and communities we serve. Through generations of change, opportunity and challenge, we’ve remained grounded in the relationships and local roots that shaped us from the beginning.
Today, with more than $1 billion in assets, we carry that legacy forward with the same commitment to local decision-making, personal service and helping our clients and communities thrive.
1918
A Permanent Home
In April 2017, a group of businessmen in the Ixonia area began conversations to organize a new bank. They raised $10,000 in capital, named the bank Ixonia State Bank, and opened for operations in December 1918. The Bank’s original building in downtown Ixonia was approximately 20 by 40 feet.
1956
First Drive Up Window
The bank moved into it’s next home at W1195 Marietta Avenue, which is now Ixonia Town Hall. The building came equipped with the first drive up window in Jefferson County.
1976
Bank Expands
In 1976, the Bank remodeled and expanded its Ixonia office to accommodate its employee growth. Improvements included air conditioning and an additional 4,000 square feet.
1990
New Branches
In the 1990s, Ixonia State Bank added three branches: Watertown-Oakridge Court in 1990, Oconomowoc-Summit Avenue in 1994, and Watertown-Church Street in 1997.
1996
First Website
The Bank’s first website goes live in October 1996, one of the first community banks in the area to do so. The convenience of Online Banking was added in early 2001.
2002
A Name Change
Ixonia State Bank has been around for nearly 85 years and has a reputation of providing dependable, high-quality financial services in a friendly, home town environment. As leaders looked to expand the market area, it was determined a new name was needed to honor the past and embrace the future. The Bank is renamed ISB Community Bank.
2007
New Main Office
In conjunction with its 90th Anniversary, our corporate headquarters moved down the street to a newly-built main office in October 2007. This building was designed to accommodate the Bank’s growth for the 50 years.
2012
A New Chapter with the Lubar Family
In 2012, Sheldon B. Lubar and his family acquired majority stake in Ixonia Bancshares—then with assets around $270 million—seeing an opportunity in small- to mid-size community banking. As Chairman of the Board, Sheldon’s Vision Statement to shareholders and employees was: Soundness, Profitability, and Growth in that order. This remains a pillar of how we operate at the Bank.
2013
A New (and Old) Name
Harkening back to its roots of strength and stability, ISB Community Bank changed its name to Ixonia Bank in May 2013.
2018
Lakes Plaza Office Opens
In order to better serve a growing, vibrant Oconomowoc community, Ixonia Bank opened its Lakes Plaza office in January 2018.
2020
Milwaukee Office Opens
2020 marked a transformative time in Ixonia Bank history. Our Milwaukee Office opened January 2020, and not long after, the COVID-19 Pandemic arrived. This shifted how we did banking, but our team was able to still assist customers and businesses navigate uncertain times, including distributing over $71 million in Payment Protection Program (PPP) loans.
2020
Novus Home Mortgage Partnership
Continuing an extraordinary 2020, in April 2020, Novus Home Mortgage becomes a Division of Ixonia Bank. A growing nationwide lender headquartered in Waukesha, Wisconsin, Novus focuses on a streamlined borrower experience through innovative technology and common-sense approach to lending.
2026
$1 Billion in Assets
Ixonia Bank has surpassed $1 billion in total assets, an important milestone that reflects more than a century of relationship-driven banking and a growing demand for customized financial solutions. While many financial institutions have become increasingly centralized and transactional, Ixonia Bank has remained committed to local decision-making and real accessibility.
